I have to say – you were born to be a teacher.  Your visual description and gentle positioning made it very easy to follow the class and feel as if I were participating from the beginning.

I had to have surgery at the end of January.  I was told that I would have a lengthy recovery period due to the three incisions that were to be made in my abdomen.  The first two days after surgery were pretty much a blur.  I was moving around somewhat but with great difficulty.  I would stretch before trying to move out of bed or get up from a chair.  I realized while I was stretching that I was also performing many of the Pilates exercises I had learned in class, as well as employing the breathing technique you taught me to get through those “sticky spots.”   My surgery was on a Thursday.  That Sunday I was able to go for a three mile walk – slowly – but without pain.   I had a follow up appointment with my surgeon that next week and he was amazed at how well I was moving around.  I told him it was because of the Pilates class.

You are always preaching how important it is to have a strong core.  I never realized just how important until this January.  I have much to thank you for.

Pilates is an incredibly unique form of exercise in that it both stretches and strengthens bodies simultaneously.  When done correctly,  Pilates requires flexibility, balance, control, strength, and deep concentration.  Angela’s Pilates classes emphasize all of these elements, by keeping a pace that both challenges the student and also allows them time to truly grasp Pilates concepts.  I have gained from Angela’s expertise in classic Pilates form both in terms of my own personal understanding and ability to execute Pilates exercises in their intended form and in my ability to articulate the nuances of the form to others in a teaching role.
